Join us for a panel discussion with Prof. Bartholomew Armah (UNECA), Maimbo Nyanga (IMF), Dean Alborough (AIIM), and Dr Thanti Mthanti (UCT GSB).
Sub-Saharan Africa will need up to US$425 billion in additional funding to fight the COVID pandemic, which could entail a 50% increase in health spending to secure a sufficient supply of vaccines over the next five years, further widening the existing infrastructure and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) financing gaps. The purpose of this panel is to discuss the complexities, opportunities and risks associated with mobilising adequate financial resources for re-igniting growth and resilience in Africa currently and in the post-COVID era.
The panellists:
- Prof. Bartholomew Armah, Director: Macroeconomics and Governance, UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa)
- Maimbo Nyanga, Senior Economist, TADAT (Tax Administration Diagnostic Assessment Tool) and IMF (International Monetary Fund)
- Dean Alborough, Head of ESG, AIIM (African Infrastructure Investment Managers)
- Dr Thanti Mthanti, Senior Lecturer, UCT GSB (University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business)
Moderator: Dr Mundia Kabinga, Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at UCT GSB
