Join us for our first 2021 Industry Expert Speaker Series on Thursday, 18 March 2021, from 5:30 pm (SAST). These talks feature our GSM alumni, who are industry leaders who share their knowledge in their field of expertise and leadership.
Our speaker in this series is Peter Major; he is a veteran mining engineer, fund manager, and analyst who is highly regarded and well known in the mining and financial service industries. After graduating from UCT with an MBA in 1984 and working as Marketing & Training Manager at Eimco Mining Machinery, he joined Allan Gray in 1989 as a gold mine analyst for two years.
He then spent ten years as Head of Mining and Senior Fund Manager at Nedcor Investment Bank, where he was the No. 1 Fund Manager in SA twice – first in the Raging Bull Awards twice and runner-up another year. From 2001 to 2004, Peter managed Mark Shuttleworth’s $530m funds which grew to $1.5 bn. In 2006 he joined Mergence Corporate Solutions as Director: Mining. Peter frequently comments in the broadcast and print media as a mining investment authority.
