While the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic is both a humanitarian and economic tragedy, it heralds a much-needed rethink of the transformative role of development finance institutions in Africa. Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) are finance institutions that go where conventional finance fears to tread, particularly micro-, small and medium scale business, state-owned enterprises, new industries vis-à-vis digitisation, artificial intelligence, and Fintech, and designated groups like women, black, and young entrepreneurs.
We invite you to join us for a free webinar with Dr Mundia Kabinga, a development economist and senior research fellow at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB), on Wednesday, 24 June 2020 as he unpacks the role of DFIs in rebuilding the post-COVID South African and African Economies.
The webinar discussion will expand on the op-ed that he recently authored entitled “The role of development finance in rebuilding South Africa’s economy post-COVID-19”.
